National Guardian Life Pledges $150,000 in Support of Funeral Service Foundation
Brookfield, Wis. – With appreciation, Funeral Service Foundation Executive Director, Kathy Wisnefski, announced yesterday that the Foundation received a $150,000 major gift pledge from National Guardian Life Insurance Company (NGL) in support of its mission to fund projects and programs that support all of funeral service in building meaningful relationships in the community.
NGL’s contribution secures the company’s place as a “Community Pillar” on the Foundation’s Donor Recognition Honor Roll, which is based on a donor’s cumulative giving.
“National Guardian Life has supported the Foundation in significant ways, from supporting our annual Golf Classic to designating their giving to our Children’s Fund,” said Wisnefski. “This major gift is a statement to the profession about the company’s support of the Foundation’s efforts to build relationships within communities.”
“It was a natural step for us to pledge a major gift and grow our partnership with such a trusted name in funeral service,” said Steve Phelps, vice president of marketing for NGL. “We are especially interested in supporting the Foundation’s efforts to advance initiatives such as FAMIC’s Have the Talk of a Lifetime consumer education campaign, which are borne, in part, from the Foundation’s commissioning of innovative research.”
A responsible corporate citizen, NGL is committed to the funeral service profession and the communities it serves. The company’s dedication is evident not only through its products and services designed to assist families with pre-funding and pre-planning needs, but also through corporate gifts such as its donation to the Funeral Service Foundation. NGL’s logo, called the “Tree of Life,” embodies this spirit of dedication and commitment; its different elements come together to reflect NGL’s dedication to people, thus supporting the NGL slogan, “It’s all about people.”
Wisnefski made the announcement during the opening general session at NFDA’s annual Convention & Expo in Nashville. Attended by nearly 1,000 funeral directors, allied professionals and leaders within the profession, the annual ceremony kicks off the largest gathering of funeral service professionals in the world. Phelps and NGL President and CEO, Mark Solverud were present for the announcement and presented Wisnefski with a ceremonial check.
The contribution from National Guardian Life will directly support the Foundation’s proactive efforts to seek relevant and innovative funding opportunities that enhance the funeral service profession, benefit funeral directors and allied professionals, thus making a timely impact on local communities.
