Brookfield, Wis. – In alignment with its mission to fund projects and programs that support all of funeral service in building meaningful relationships in the community, the Funeral Service Foundation is now accepting applications for its Professional Women’s Conference Scholarship. The application deadline is February 26, 2016.
The Professional Women’s Conference Scholarship is designed to support career and professional development for women in funeral service by helping offset the costs associated with attending NFDA’s annual Professional Women’s Conference, which will be held April 8-10, in Cape Coral, Florida.
A minimum of five scholarships will be awarded to applicants who are verifiably employed in funeral service or a related occupation, or who are a student of funeral service enrolled in an American Board of Funeral Service Education-accredited program. The scholarships will cover the recipients’ conference registration fees, and provide up to a $1,000 travel and accommodation stipend. Those interested may apply online.
“The Foundation has been supporting professional development opportunities for over 70 years,” said Danelle O’Neill, executive director of the Foundation. “Generous donor support has allowed us to award more than 100 Professional Women’s Conference Scholarships since 1998, including a record 10 scholarships in 2015. We look forward to awarding this year’s scholarships to women who are making a real difference in funeral service, and in their communities.”
Along with professional development scholarships, the Funeral Service Foundation also administers and awards academic scholarships for full- and part-time students of funeral service enrolled in (or accepted into) a mortuary science program at an ABFSE-accredited school. Academic scholarship applications will be available online in the coming weeks.
