Supporting Initiatives That Strengthen Funeral Service
The Foundation’s focused approach to grantmaking centers on strengthening funeral service and lifting up grieving communities.
Our belief in what’s possible fuels our collaboration with our grantees and partners. We believe that healing memorialization experiences and compassionate, accessible grief support are fundamental to strong communities.
Grant Application Process
The Foundation awards grants of national or international scope to US 501(c)3 organizations and Canadian registered charities. Grant applications are accepted year-round, and eligible applications are reviewed quarterly by the Foundation’s Grants Committee.
PLEASE NOTE:
The costs associated with burials, memorialization, cremations, etc. are not eligible for funding.
If you are seeking assistance with financial arrangements to pay for a funeral, we recommend that you reach out to a local funeral service professional to discuss your options for creating a meaningful and dignified tribute within your budget. You may also want to consider connecting with local community organizations and municipalities for possible funding assistance.
The Red Cross can also help you navigate available resources and assist with finding financial support in the midst of your grief. Connect with them by calling toll-free at 833-492-0094.
Crisis Response Fund
When the need arises, the Foundation stands ready to assist communities in crisis. In 2020 we awarded more than $500,000 in relief grants through our COVID-19 Crisis Response Fund.
We are not currently granting from this fund, however, we encourage eligible organizations to request funds through our standard grant application.
Please note: The costs associated with burials, memorialization, cremations, etc. are not eligible for funding.
